Saturday November 3rd and 4th at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts-
10am-4pm ($65/60)Keynote Speaker: Moctesuma Esparza This conference is a unique opportunity for the San Francisco film community to engage with the Latino experience by bringing together local and international film professionals for dialogue about the most relevant issues in filmmaking. Aimed at Latinos and non-Latinos alike the conference takes place during the opening weekend of the ILFF, allowing participants to tap in to the vibrant environments of the festival. From discussion panels on distribution and defining “Latino” image, to conversations with world-renown Latino directors, this two day event is a great opportunity for networking, dialogue, and learning. This years International Latino Filmmakers Conference has expanded the programming to encompass several integral parts of filmmaking for Latinos and non-Latino Filmmakers. Program is below. Saturday: • Keynote Speaker: Moctesuma Esparza, Oscar nominated producer, director, founder of NALIP (National Association of Latino Producers) and Maya Theaters. • Technology Track-Distribution: What does the future look like? Moderated by filmmaker Mabel Valdiviezo- Caachi, Frameline, Jaman, Canana and Film Movement attending. • Latino Images and Culture: A conversation with established filmmakers on our images, audiences, and the future of Latino filmmaking. • International Filmmakers Panel: A conversation about the issues facing international Latino filmmakers. Moderated by Graham Leggat of the San Francisco International Film Festival. Carlos Cuaron and Sergio Morkin in conversation • Delfin Virgil (San Francisco Chronicle) in Conversation with Diego Luna at the Castro. Join us after the screening of “Chavez” for a look a young actor, director, producer in the making. Sunday: • Local Filmmakers Panel: A conversation about the issues facing Bay Area Latino filmmakers. • Screening of Local Latino Filmmakers Works: A selection of our local Latino shorts. |
